Veldenz Trail

The Veldenz hiking trail is a Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe award-winning hiking trail with a length of around 60 km.
It starts at Lichtenberg Castle, high above the small village of Thallichtenberg and ends in the Veldenz town of Lauterecken.
The trail is characterized by a natural tranquillity that is rarely experienced. It leads through two nature reserves and can be divided into five stages. With the exception of the Mittagsfels nature reserve, it is accessible all year round.
Hikers should allow themselves at least three days.
Five daily stages make for a week of pure hiking pleasure - because the
Veldenz Hiking Trail runs along many paths and through a variety of landscapes.

Here you can be completely at one with yourself: the natural paths, especially in the Mittagsfels nature reserve, lead up to the heights with an alpine feel, where pasqueflowers bloom in spring and the views over the Glan Valley and to the Prussian Mountains are unimaginably wide.
Lichtenberg Castle, the moated castle in Reipoltskirchen with its sculpture trail and Veldenz Castle in Lauterecken bring the history and culture of the Palatinate uplands back to life. And who knows, maybe you'll even come across a few wandering musicians?
