August Drumm exhibition room

august drumm Exhibition Room

In honor of the sculptor August Drumm (born May 26, 1862, in Ulmet; died October 21, 1904, in Munich), the Heimatverein Ulmet e.V. (Ulmet Local History Association) set up an exhibition space in the Ulmet municipal building yard in 2004.

The occasion for this was the 100th anniversary of the artist's death.

In addition to the works collected and exhibited in the exhibition space, the Heimatverein sponsored the restoration of the bronze statue “Alter Germane” and the tomb of the artist's parents.

You can admire the bronze statue at the market square in Ulmet, near the birthplace of August Drumm (former mill).

The tomb he created for his parents can be found next to the entrance to the parish chapel in Ulmet.

Well-known works by the sculptor from Ulmet include the Palatia on the Prinzregentenbrücke bridge in Munich and the Werderberg Peace Monument near Edenkoben.

The "Dippemuseum" was established more by chance than anything else.

Many of the pieces on display come from the Häfner families Hermann Drumm and Walter Grub.

The exhibits include some interesting items: milk jugs, syrup jugs, cheese strainers, skimming bowls, butter churns, berry wine jugs, and cake tins.
