Bedesbach Monument Forge

historic forge in bedesbach

By acquiring the former village smithy, the local community of Bedesbach has brought a piece of history back to life.

The small listed building was probably constructed in the mid-18th century. Three generations of blacksmiths have worked in this building. The large forge with the huge bellows hanging above it forms the heart of the smithy and dominates the room. The forge's inventory, which is still complete, still tells the story of the blacksmiths' hard work today.

Worth mentioning are a horseshoe that is over 1000 years old and the old blacksmith's book, which contains orders dating back to 1886.
